I just started a new job and took over a phone system. My second day a user had an extension all set up yesterday, then came in today and the phone only says "Initialize". When I switch phones the next one says the same...any ideas what the problem is and how to fix it?

What type of system, it could be your programming did not take, or it could be a cabling issue.

yep could be a lot of reasons but try this one.. "if your system is an IPK or an Elite".. check which digital port you put your add-on console on. That's usually the problem when you place a dterm on a add-on console port.. if so you'll have to program the port at MB 1-6-01..

There maybe Automaintenance Enable. In IPK system default is 8 hours, meaning if during the operation after system made last call past 8 hours without anybody recieved or made outdoing call system automatikally will go to reset. Do not remember CMD number but you can take a look in the manual.

You could have two phones plugged into the same port. Another thing to check for, make sure that the cable pair only goes from the KSU to the phone. I had one last week that had house pairs doubled up and it continued on throughout the plant.

It may pay to tone the port back to the MDF, in case someone has swapped phones around (plugged into wrong wall-jacks).
I had to drive 45 miles once to plug a phone into the right jack after some id10t decided to move his phones around. the worst part is that when I told him over the phone what he had done, he couldn't fix it himself.
So toning is highly recommended.
