Hello everyone,
I’m running a pair of Inter-Tel Axxess PBXs connected via IPRCs; both are running version 10.005 or the software. The voice mail server is an old W2k box that handles voice mail and applications for both. I’ve been working with each for about 6 years learning as I go. I’ve become pretty familiar with the PBX and voice mail, at least in my environment. Having said that, I’d like to bounce a few ideas off the experts here and see what I’m about to get myself into.
The hard drive finally went bad and has since been Ghosted to another drive and was back up and running, for the most part. The problem is that since the drive has been replaced (twice now, it’s running on the 3rd drive) the server has been slower than usual for a 300MHz box, not very responsive, and has rebooted on its own a few times. Aside from this probably being a problem with the image I’m wondering what my options are.
• Has anyone tried SSDs with and IDE converter of some sort? At least with SSDs there would be no moving parts and with the right drive probably more reliable.
• There must be some kind of third party generic/unified messaging solution out there that doesn’t rely on ancient hardware. What other options are available for or compatible with an Inter-Tel phone system?
• Being an IT guy for a small business I’m always open to looking into open source alternatives. Does anyone have any experience with any of those options?
Thanks,
Jeremy
