Have an OS7200s that started getting VM corruption while everyone was off for COVID work from home stuff. Now that they are back to the office, a few of the mailboxes are showing messages, but can no longer be accessed, even with password change. I've ran into this corruption before, requires initialization of the SVMi and rebuild from scratch. That being said, the owner of the business is pressing hard to have the messages salvaged, if possible, due to the nature of the business they have. I have the .tar backup of the SVMi, is there any way to salvage the messages from that? I've unzipped it to look at it, nothing is a "playable" sound file, but judging by the dates on the files, some of them probably are messages. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Have you tried getting them directly from the SD card? Those messages are all stored on there in a folder.

What happens when you try and put it into a PC to read the card?

The card has the exact same files on it that the backup does. I had access to both.. They are. EXT

The 7200s processors had a run of units that had faulty connectors where the SD card was inserted. Before you try anything drastic, try unseating and re-seating the SD card a few times. This has solved issues in the past where a mailbox wouldn't take messages, it may help out in this case.

Worth a shot...
