Hello there everyone! It has been a long time since I have used this forum so I hope everyone is doing well during these times. I am in need of some help. I just got back my Toshiba CIX40 phone system and set aside my NEC SV8100 phone system for a while. I am running Toshiba’s Network eManager programming software version V5.20B30 on my Windows 10 64 bit laptop. For some reason however, when I try to connect to it, I keep getting the following error message: “Connection failed! CIX40: ERROR_COULD_NOT_CONNECT_TO_CALL_AGENT”. I have tried connecting the CIX40 directly from the PBX to my laptop using a crossover ethernet cable and connecting the CIX40 to a switch using a regular ethernet cable which would obviously then go to my router but no luck. In both instances, I made sure that my laptops ethernet was set to the IP address of 192.168.254.200 & the subnet address of 255.255.255.0. I also changed my ending DHCP address to 200 in my router. The phone system IP address & community name are default so I know I entered that information correctly when setting up the phone system in eManager. I keep trying different methods for hope that it will work but I cannot seem to make it connect. I am hoping that someone can help me make it connect with some advice or information? I know in the past when I have asked for help that I made it should like I wanted free help but that is not what I am going for; I am just looking for advice of helpful information to possibly get me up and running to be able to program my phone system. Thanks so much in advance!

Have you been able to connect with this laptop in the past, or is this a new installation?
There is a version specifically made for Windows 10, but I don't know what version is reported after the installation. Toshiba has this Win10 version listed as Network eManager V5.20BW10. The last working Windows 7 version is Network eManager V5.20B26. There was another newer version that got removed from FYI

Hi there newtecky. This is a new installation onto this laptop from a saved file on a USB stick. I have never been able to make this version of eManager work on this laptop. I just tried to download the Windows 10 version and it turns out that was the version that I had already downloaded to start out with (V5.20B30) as that’s what it says at the bottom of the screen. Just to make sure though, I deleted the software and re-downloaded it and tried it again but I am still getting the same error message of “cannot connect to call agent”. Do you have any ideas on what might be going on? Thanks much in advance!

I confirmed on my laptop that this is the Windows 10 version.

Did you also have the instructions for installing this version? This is not as automatic as the version for Windows 7.

Along with the instructions, there are some additional steps required due to some changed Microsoft made to Windows 10 after these instructions were made.

Go to the new Apps and Features settings
Click on Optional Features
Click on Add a Feature
Install Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and WMI SNMP Provider.

I am getting a lot closer! After downloading those two programs that you listed in the last message onto my laptop, I can now connect to my CIX40 but now when I am in the main home screen with all of the different programming drop downs and I try to go to a program menu drop down, I get a new error that says this: “Classic eManager server reported this problem: Connection Open. SQL Server does not exist or access denied”. In case you are wondering, I had my laptop directly connected to the PBX using a crossover ethernet cable. Would you happen to know how to take care of that error? Again, I am very close to getting this working! Thanks so much in advance!

When ever I run into SQL issues, I uninstall everything (Network eManager, SQL, and MSXML 6.0 Parser), delete all the directories, and reinstall everything. Like I said, there is specific instructions just for this Windows 10 version. The older version pretty much installed everything that was required. If anyone remembers the old version of eManager, that also required manually installation of SQL.

It is interesting that you got the error after connecting to the system. Usually you would see an SQL error when first trying to log into eManager.

I am now getting the SQL server error when logging into eManager. I think I will set it aside for right now until I get some money to bring it to Best Buy geek squad and have them take a look at it for me.

I have never used them myself. This doesn't seem to me like something they would be able to help with. SQL can be pretty complex. As I said before, I always uninstall and reinstall eManager and the other software.

Network eManager doesn't seem to work 100% when installed on the latest version on Windows 10. The install process is different to the documentation supplied.

I have an early version of Windows 10 and it works well and I have managed to keep it working after doing windows updates.

Regards
Carl
