Does anyone know what causes the 4024 LCDs to display strange characters (fail) and is it repairable?

I always assumed the firmware on the phone became corrupted and replaced them but never gave it further consideration .

I performed a search and didn't find anything.

Thanks

I remember it being caused by a port lockup more than by the phone itself. A system reset would take care of that. Or it sometimes it was wired wrong, with the dual ports, if you cross up say pins 1 and 2 all kinds of things happen.

Thanks Derrick.

I believe I have seen similar with wiring. The Hybrid concept on the SBX wiring was "odd".

In this case I can plug in a different phone and it clears but the display issue goes with the phone.

I am wondering if I can swap on the display with another phone - haven't 'fixed' a phone since the old Starplus days.
