Replacing the fan is a pain in the ass from memory.
Also it was never a spare part so you had to source one from elsewhere.

actually your gonna hate me for this. But getting a replacement fan only took me a matter of minutes. Found one at americantelebrokers.com just cut the old connector off and splice new fan to it.

so far removing old fan was easy took me 6 minutes just take top cover off remove two screws holding fan in place pull fan out. remove cable from power supply install just opposite.

If I remember correctly there are 3 pins to the fan.1 is a feedback to the system that tells the system the fan is running I think.Maybe the fan you got is not an exact replacement? Or you spliced the connector wrong?

i spliced it correctly the yellow wire is the LRA and got that connected. black is negative and red is positive. double checked connections all is good. the vendor did give me a substitute fan that i had to splice in no connector.

Do u know what fan it does like? I read in this forum about a machtronix fan that reported good results no error codes. But the milliampere draw is almost double. Would that be a problem? Original is 0.70 ma this Mach fan is 0.110 ma
