I have a group of salesmen that have been complaining that some of the sales phones allow the user automatically pick up a parked call by lifting the handset. I have gotten two stories on this. One is that they just lift the handset and the parked call is automatically answered, and the other is that they can simply press 0 and the parked call is answered? Any ideas how to program this? I have done the "stare and compare" with one of the extensions that have this feature against one that does not and nothing is jumping out at me. We are using Inter-tel CS 5200.

Thanks in advance!

Call “parking” is not a supported feature in this system. There are ways to simulate call parking, such as transfer to hold or transfer to a hunt group, both which require a reverse transfer (call pick up) from wherever the call is holding or ringing.

It’s possible to program a station speed dial key with the feature code and extension number, for one-button call retrieval of the call. It’s also possible to program an extension as a house phone, which would do the same thing whenever the handset is lifted. However, the phone would be useless for anything else.

Dialing zero will call the attendant station.

Thanks for the Reply DND ON smile

I think that the reverse transfer is what they are looking for. Any tips on tracking down how they have the others set up?

Thanks,

The best place to start would be… the beginning.

I would document how the call is received, who answers it, how do they “park” it, and how it is retrieved. Sit down with each person involved and have them show you which button they press, then move on to the next person and repeat the process.

Don’t trust the “I heard that it works like this” from the users. Have them actually show you the calls being handled. From there, you can check the programming of the stations and the answer will probably jump right out at you.
