Hello,
I have an important question regarding an SLC16 Card that I moved from one node to another.

The SLC16 card has 3 analog lines that it is responsible for. 2 fax and 1 alarm line.

Neither fax device can complete a fax successfully to each other since I moved the card to node 2 and neither fax is receiving from the public as well.

When I take the phone line off either one of the fax devices and plug it into a regular analog phone, the phone will ring when I call it from my cell phone. I can talk to the person who called it without a problem. Both SLC16 ports use ARS to get to an outside line residing on Node 1. I setup as a 'House Phone' with 92000 for day and night. I can make outbound calls from my analog phone which I plugged into either fax line, no problem as well.

Any idea what I'm missing here? Thanks in advance.

Pete

Nodes are connected via private IPRC networking cards.

I don't believe that faxing is supported on IPRC private networking as it does not support the T.38 protocol. If you do not have dial tone on Node 2 that you can dial out of, you'll need to move the SLC 16 back to Node 1.

Go to System\Devices and Feature Codes\Node IP Connection Groups\Group that connects to Node 1\IP Call Configuration. Make sure that the Fax Encoding settings are G.711. Worth a try though not supported...

Interesting! There are 3 settings on this page in regards to faxing:

Fax Detection Sensitivity - set at '0'
Fax encoding Setting (Fax Detection) - set at 'RFC 2833'
Fax Encoding Setting (Fax Transmission) - set at 'G.711 Mu-Law'

all of these have the big red X on them. As soon as I set the sensitivity level to '1' (not sure what this should be), those 3 features were activated BUT it did tell me that Inter-tel does not support faxing over private networking (thanks Stix1) and use at your own risk.

There were 2 choices for G.711:
Mu-Law or A-Law ??

Thanks for everyone's help on this. I will be able to test tomorrow morning on this. If it doesn't work then I might be forced to put it back but we will see.

Oops, forgot about Fax Sensitivity. Set it to 20. North America always uses Mu-Law encoding.

Tested a fax transmission this morning and it wasn't successful. Basically what I'm going to have to do is pull those particular numbers off the PRI from node 1 and convert to 1MB pot lines. I think that's my only other answer to being able to move this card. Thanks for the info guys.
