I have an Inter-Tel Axxent 520.2040 machine with voicemail. Never worked on this machine before. Out Voice Mail XFER button is red and I installed a video card in to see what is going on. When I rebooted the machine, my bios was wiped and it did not have the Hard drive listed. Does anyone knwo the parameters for the hard drive? Cyl, Sect, Head. I did not see and autodetect option unless I am missing something. Also where can I get the Axxent software so that I can configure the machine. It isn't with the cpu. Thanks

I've always found the info on the hard drive itself. Don't forget to replace the battery or be prepared to re-enter it again after the next power failure.

I replaced the battery last month and it still happened. I got the alert on the phone and once I replaced it, the alert didn't come back, but the CMOS settigns were erased. Is there and easy way to get the drive out or do I have to remove both covers and unscrew? tight space.

The front cover will pop off and give you access to the drive. There are two batteries inside, which did you replace?

Thanks, I was able to get the drive specs. I took the cover off the other side of the case and lo and behold, there was a print out of the CMOS settings. In regard to the battery, I replaced the one on the mother board. It was covered with a black cover. I think it cost about 20 bucks to replace. 1/2 long about 1/2 wide. Thanks,

That battery is the 1/2 size AA 3.6vdc battery for the database. I'm sure there is another battery in there for the CMOS, although I can't remember its location (I've not serviced an AXXENT in a few years).

Machine went down again, so I had a chance to open the case again. Did not find a CMOS battery. I looked everywhere. Must be soldered on one. Either way, will loose the cmos settings everytime we have a power failure longer than the Battery backup.

The CMOS battery will be found on the PC CPU card. It is the circuit card with the DB9 and DB25 connectors on it the battery will be found next to the floppy/hard drive connectors.
