Hello all,

I have recently started IT for a company that has an Inter-tel phone system. We use DB Studio (programming the same thing? i've heard it referred to both ways) to make minor changes to our phone system from time to time. I'm not that familiar with phone systems like this since I have not much previous experience in these systems so please forgive me if i'm misusing terms smile .

I was reviewing the previous IT person's notes and reoccurring calendar events and noticed he had on the 1st of every year a note to verify/change company vacation days in the phone system. His note indicates that the phone system does not handle reoccurring events very well and to make sure to check the dates so that we dont have a day that the phones dont come on when they should be.

Obviously this would be a concern of mine since we have a few company holidays coming up and i know i have not manually adjusted anything like this. He also makes a reference to a "STAR" application... maybe something to do with the phone system or a sub-system?

Can anyone lend any light on this subject for me please? i have done many searches on this forum and the web with no real results (maybe i'm searching with the wrong terminology lol)

Here's his note just in case i'm missing something important:

"Check to make sure that the phone system is using the correct days in its STAR application this will cause the phone's to not turn on for specified days. This needs to be setup every year as dates change for holidays and the system does not deal well with repeating events."

Thank you for your assistance in advance!

Voice Processor\Devices\Applications

Look in there for a Scheduled Time-Based Application Router or STAR.

You will make your date changes in there. There are 20 different "levels" so to speak not counting the Default.

Awesome! i just went into my DB Programming and found the STAR application and its 20 "levels" in the table. i found where the previous tech guy had a few company holidays set and i basically just updated them with new dates and years.

Just for a sanity check --

To make a timer an "all-day-event" (such as if i want phones to be off all day since no one will be in the office) the Start and Stop dates just need to match correct? i would just leave the start time and stop time red "X" out.

thanks!
