Hi All,

I am trying to connect our Intertel Axxess System to a Cisco callmanager. I have connected the two with a T1 PRI. All is well, I can dial from the Cisco system into the Intertel with no problems. I have set up a phantom extension as a test from Intertel to Cisco and that works too, but not quite how I'd like. I have set up forwarding on the phantom extension to hit the trunk group for the PRI to the Cisco system, however when anyone calls the phantom extension it hits the TG and waits to timeout or for the user to press pound. Is there any way to eliminate this delay? Is this the correct way of doing it?

I think I may be able to do it with ARS and route groups, but I haven't been able to figure that out. Ideally, I'd like to forward a whole 6XXX block of extensions to the Cisco phone system, but if need be I can create a phantom forwarded extension for each if that won't work.

Any help much appreciated.

The best way to do this would be with a trunk group key for the PRI connected to the Cisco system. Press the key, dial the Cisco extension and you’re good to go.

It’s not seamless, but the systems aren’t truly networked.

I once had two Axxess systems connected to a Lucent system with 2 PRIs. There were about 600 Axxess extensions, and another 200 or so on the Lucent. We labeled the trunk group key with the name of the building where the Lucent system was installed. If you wanted to call someone who worked in that building, you pressed that button and dialed their extension.

You could do the same thing using a Call key and ARS. Have a special route group and facility group for the Cisco. Add a “6xxx” dial pattern and place it above the default N+ dial pattern. This should solve the problem with delayed dialing.

Thinking when I did it to an IDS I really had to play with the timers to get the disconnect to work. If you run into issue with it dropping the line because it doesn't see the disconnect post a note here and I'll look at the system I have working and see if I can find the changes I made

Would you mind helping me a little more on the last part? I've kind of been forced into managing the phone system and I'm not too familiar with setting up ARS on the Intertel. I've tried making a route group and dialing pattern for 6XXX, but whenever I dial it from a phone, it says "Invalid Extension" as soon as I hit the 6.

Ideally, I'd like to make this as seemless as possible for the end users.

Calls will need to be dialed as an outside call, not an intercom call. You don't really have 6xxx extensions, so they will show as invalid.

Gotcha. That'll confuse the hell out of everyone. Guess I'm stuck with phantom extensions. Is there any way to decrease the timeout on that specific trunk? It actually works just as I would like, except you have to wait about 10 seconds for it to time out to the trunk, or interrupt with a #.
