I've looked in every manual there is for
the Legend and can't find the pinouts from
the card for Simplex use. Any help out there.

The 400 e/m tie card is a 6 wire standard tie trunk card. you have to use 6 wire to make it function. I'm not sure of the wiring? you might want to check with a tech web site that has that type of wire codes posted.

The Legend R6.1 Installation manual has a section on this card that explains the DIP switch settings for the card depending on what you are using it for. It can be used in Simplex mode and use standard 4 wire. Signaling rides on analog pairs. You can download this manual off of Avaya site. It does not have the pin out. Typically your 1st pair is RX, 2nd is TX, 3rd is signalling.
So 4,5 is RX 3,6 is TX and 2,7 E/M
Your service provider should outline delivery of service. It is provisioned as a tie trunk as Ken stated.

I was told by Tier 3 that if you want to use this 400 card for true e/m tie, it has to be wired as 6 wires, otherwise it's just simplex, like a did trunk.

Thank You All for the info.
Did Tier 3 tell you how to wire out of the
400e&m card for simplex..still uses 2 pair.
Using the 3 pair pinout I got the switches
to talk to each other. If I can get the
simplex (2)pair pinout...that would make my
day.
Thanks..Dan

According to the simplex description, it states that you use the standard four wire pinout. I would assume that the pinout I gave you would stay the same. Don't use the E and M pins. You have to set the jumpers on the ports for simplex mode. Those settings are referenced in R6.1 installation guide. Check the index for 400 E&M strappping.
