Hello.
I've recently aquired a bunch of Merlin Legend equipment. I'd like to put it to use but have a couple of questions. I have 2 seperate systems, and am trying to find out the revision of each. Both processor modules say "Large System". One is equipped with FM1L and the other with FM2. From what I've been reading, it seems as these are an early release. Are they just revision 1 and 2, respectively? Or does the feature module not correspond to the revision number?
At the moment I have no MLX phones for the system. I'd like to be able to test the system to some extent using just the analog T/R cards that I have. I was able to get an inside dial tone when I connected a phone, so it looks like its working somewhat. Do I need the SPM software to program it? I will probably be getting a MLX-20L phone at some point to do programming, however I don't want to purchase any phones until I play around a little first. I'm guessing that without the SPM software I really can't do much.
If the stuff does work, I'll probably be around asking some more questions as I learn the Legend system. I also plan to implement some sort of PC based Voice Mail/Auto Attendant. However I'll hold my questions regarding VM until I get the basic system up and running first.
Thanks, Todd

Yes you will have to get a phone or SPM to program it. They are very early models. But it souds like they work so far.

I heard from someone that the current versions of the SPM software will not program systems of this vintage. What version(s) should I look for and/or would anyone have a copy available to me?

I think you can use WinSpam Release 5, but you will have to use baud rate 1200 for Legend R1.0/2.0 For Legend 3.0 or above you use 2400.

I found and downloaded WinSPM 3.0 from Avaya's website and it seems to be communicating with the processor just fine.
Thanks for all the help, Todd

Rel 3.0 and higher have some better voice mail and automatic route selection features to name a few. I can give you some good pointers on voice mail.
