Hey Dan, try to get you customer into a Legend with Merlin phones instead of the 820. This way you can have remote access. If you don't have any luck, let me know. I might be up for another road trip to NM.

Appreciate all the responses. I have a customer that utilizes existing equipment from other terminals. It is old Piece Of SHXT equipment yes. And to make matters worse for us, they pay Avaya a maintenance fee for the POS equipment. Thus why I need someoone certified to install. Anyhoot, thanks again.

If they have a contract with Avaya, then my understanding is that certified or not if the tech doesn't work for Avaya the contract may not be honored if something goes wrong. At least that's the way it works out here.

DTMF is right. Your Tech must work for Avaya or an authorized Avaya dealer, and must be dispatched from Avaya. Please don't tell me they pay maintenance on an 820. They can legally opt out of the contract. All they have to say is Avaya is not meeting their end of the deal with service and support. I had a customer that was paying $500 a month to Exponents for maint. on a 4 year old Legend with 50 phones. We stopped that one in a hurry.

Yall are both correct. This is why I am trying to find an avaya dealer here. I already know everything you are saying. It still amazes me that they will pay to put a contract on an 820. It doesn't make since, but you have to understand the end-user here to understand what I go through each and every day.

If I could hack into Avaya or Exponents database and get all their maint. customers, we could all offer them twice the service for half the price. 20 or 30 maintenance contracts at $250-500 a deal and I might be able to send my kids to college afterall.

Z-man thats whats putting my kids in school. My favorite stories are when we go to a customer and all the phones are falling apart and they don't even know thay have been paying maintence for the last 10 years and continue to buy new replacement phones and we add them to the contract.
