system 75 will not boot up without the tape running all the way through and loading "core" translations, assuming that you have the correct tape for the processor that is installed. without the tape, all you will ever get is "spe down".
You can try and clean the tape head, and rerun the tape, but be careful that you clean with alcohol or something that will not damage the rollers or leave a residue on the tape head. but it will not boot up without the tape, running through

Have tried the cards one at a time still no go.
According to the documentation,It should continue on further down in it's start up process,I have not changed the tape control card as of yet as I have spent a pretty good sum in buying the proc, mem and net cards. I will have to get the tape controller card next as that seems to be the next logical step.
As for the tape that has the software and tranlations on it, I don't think the system has gotten that far in the boot up stage.
Although I may be wrong.
I appreciate the info this is the first forum out of three others that I actually got an answer from.
