I have a client that wants their autoattendant to answer if the attendant is on the phone and then place the calls on hold or park them. The calls shouldn't be transferred anywhere else. Will the PC card messaging handle that? It's not completely clear from the docs, so I wanted to ask.

You can use the AA feature in the partner to answer the call after so many rings and place the call on hold and you can turn the feature on and off when you want too.

It is the ASA feature and not the AA feature that you are going to use. You have the have the automatic system/direct extension dial pc card installed.
#111 -- #110 -- #204 --#121 -- record message, intercom 891
Hope this help's!! Good Luck

Well, you _could_ set it up with transfer return rings set to 0-disabled, and give each user with Voice Mail a VMS Cover button, which they would turn OFF when they are able to take calls. The auto attendant would transfer calls to their extension, and they would ring until answered or the caller abandoned the call. There is a lot of responsibility on the users to remember to turn VMS Cover ON when they want their calls to go to voice mail.

Maybe there's a better way to do this. It's for a medical office, there is only one person answering 4 lines. Most calls are brief and need to hold or just talk for a bit. Some are a bit longer, so they want to either stall callers for a bit or let them leave VM. I will probably have them tell callers to keep hitting 0 in the AA greeting and use PC Card Messaging. Thanks dave
