We have a Partner ACS 5.0 system with the remote access/backup pcmcia card. I downloaded the PC Administration software from Avaya's site, but I have not had any success connecting to the system.

When I try to connect (using direct dial or operator assisted) I can hear the modem connect, the gui message box comes up saying I'm connected, and the duration clock starts ticking at the bottom. I am not prompted for a password, and after 13 seconds or so; I get the "Connection failed" box and the connection drops.

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the software; reseting the password on #730; power cycling the system; shutting down the system, removing the pcmcia card, power cycling the system and (while its cold again) reinserting the pcmcia card.

I saw some posts in the forums about people having issues with Win XP (which is what I'm using). Is the Windows version a known issue; or just a problem some people had? In any case; any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

It is VERY picky about the modem you use.

Some more info...

Today there was an area wide power outage; so the system was down for a good hour or so. Once it comes back up I give it a shot and was actually able to connect.

While I was disapointed with the lack of administrative functionality; I was very happy to finally connect (at 2400 bps). After making some minor changes and saving to the system; I disconnect to take care of some things.

Trying to connect maybe 20 minutes later I find myself with the same connection issue of not getting prompted for a password; then getting booted after 13 seconds.

Any advice?

(thanks in advance)

Hello,
I had the same problem. I changed my modem card to an Internal v.92/v.90 PCI / Data/ FAX/ Speakerphone Modem card and all my problems were solved. Good luck.....
