The Tadiran Emerald ICE was picked up by Sprint as well and it is called the Sprint K3 Digital Hybrid phone system. You may want to check there as well for some more competitve pricing. We have been selling them for about 1 year with no problems. Originally posted by mostlyprudent: I am having a very difficult time choosing a new telephone system. The primary contenders are the Nortel BGM-50, Samsung iDC100, ECi IVX-S class and Tadiran Emerald Ice. I have ruled out Toshiba and NEC because I do not trust the local dealers for those systems.
We have 5 lines and 12 phones. The best experience I've had with a phone system was with an Inter-Tel, but no one in my area sells/installs them. The ECi S class I think is too limited, but I really like the company (although their price on the E Class is just too high for our budget).
I want the system to last as long as possible and be able to be upgraded to take a pri or a VoIP interface. Any thoughts?

I made my final recommendation this morning. My preference is the ESI 72e system, but I am not sure that my boss will be able to get past the $2500 price difference between that system and the Tadiran Emerald Ice. In my opinion it is not really an apples-to-apples comparison, but the Ice system is so much more than our now dead COMDial system that it is probably adequate for our needs. My boss did send some emails to references given by the ESI vendor to see how they like the system and the service.
ESI's VIP software and the fact that the vendor has installed this system in nearly a dozen other local firms that do the same business as we do were the deciding factors for me. I should know the ultimate outcome by tomorrow.

Mostly Prudent, Your company should be very happy with the ESI. Make sure your dealer set's you up with esi-admin. I have been involved with ESI for about 6 years now and we enjoy selling their product. The manufacturer support for their dealers is awesome. Axion

ESI 72e it is! The system will be installed next week. I looked at SqueekyGeek's pictures of his Nortel install...if the ESI system is as large as that Norstar, the installers are going to have fun fitting everything in the available space.

The ESI 72e can go up to 2 cabinets, each having 4 cards. Each cabinet is about the size of an 8-1/2x11 sheet of paper. With each cabinet fully expanded, it's about 6-8" deep. Each cabinet has its own power supply, but they don't take up much space either. The nice thing about the IVX is that the main cabinet, about the size I told you, includes the voicemail, as it is "all in one". Just thought you'd like to know. If they use 66 blocks, the blocks will take up more space than the phone system itself. ------------------ | Signal Communication Systems - Fresno, CA | | Telephone Systems, Voicemail Syste... & Data Cabling - Central Valley, CA
