Well, you can, but..... the system will restart anyway, and you have the possibility of frying something in the process!
Seriously, there is no hot swapping in Partners, even the PC cards cannot be hot swapped.

NEVER NEVER NEVER hotswap any module on a partner system.

Not swapping cards hot in Partner is advice well given, this also applies to adding new cards. ALWAYS POWER DOWN!!!
