I agree programming from 10 or 11 is just as or faster.

as much as that sounds great and simple, x10 and 11 are Pres and CEO. I have no access to these lines. And the laptop is a must. i need to connect this way, otherwise i'll be here til 9pm anytime i have to make phone changes. thanks, but i'll pass on that one.

Every time you make changes through the remote access program, you need to restart the system to make the changes take effect. That's going to drop any calls in progress. How much is that going to piss off the Pres and CEO?
Bring another display phone out with you, go to the control unit, temporarily connect 10 or 11 to another port, (programmed just like 10 or 11), Forward 10 or 11 to the new port, plug in your phone and program, then put everyone back the way they were. Don't forget to unforward the phone as well.

am i really this dumb or just incompetent? i am at x21 and want to swap with x10. i can't find any explanation, or programming options, to do this other than swapping the cat5 cable on the phone switch. this won't be permanent, but will be for a month to six weeks, so i don't need to make it permanent. anyone know the commands for swapping x10 with another? tia.
