hi guy i have a question here and iam not sure how stupid it is,but here we go. iam installing the lucent partner acs system in my office with 18d phones, my questions is since iam still using dial-up service, my 18d phones have 2 ports in the back of them one for line and one for aux, can i plug in a phone cord in the aux jack and to my computer and get online service, or do i have to run additional cat5 wire?
thanks in advance

hey fdiaz111, That is not a stupid question. You can connect your modem to the AUX jack, but wont be able to use the phone at the same time. If you have an extra EXT port you could use it and assign the line you use for dial up to that EXT. you only need one pair for an analog use EXT.

Basically you need to add another extension to where your phone is, and use that for your modem. no matter how many lines you have, you can only use one or the other, unable to use simutaneously.

I would not recommend doing dial-up through the acs, although it will work. Usually will slow your connect speed down more than if you were hooked to a direct C.O. I see your in charlotte ,if you need some help feel free to ask. If you are running cable better pull an extra cat-5e for future. Broadband is the way to go!

Dial up through the ACS will limit your speed as clgjr posted, I would seriously look into a DSL for one of your lines and shoot it to your network. You will be much happier.
