Not sure if this is the best place to post this, so if not, let me apologize now.
My company has two Avaya 9040 Trans Talk phones at different locations, and we have been having issues with both of them since they were installed. On both of them we get a click, or pop every few seconds, its quite loud since its right in your ear, and can be heard on both ends of the connection.
I'm trying to find out if this might be an environmental issue, a power issue, or just a phone issue, so we can resolve it. It just seems odd to me that we have two of these once again at different locations that are displaying exactly the same symptoms, yet I can find no mention of it on the Internet.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Two things I can think of. Is there any wireless or RF producing equipment in use at both locations? (I'm also assuming that these locations are in different buildings some distance apart, if not where are these locations?) Are both handsets or radio units from the same lot, most likely purchased at the same time? Could be a bad lot.

It's possible the transmitter units may be located too close to the telephone system. Avaya recommends that you have at least 6 feet of space between the transmitter and the phone system. That would also go along with the previous reply of something giving off a lot of RF. Kent

Avaya has noted a problem with the Transtalk 9040's, generally only if you have more than 2 phones in the same location. We have switched several to Engenious wireless for this reason.

Actually, we had avaya folks out to each location, (one in Ann Arbor MI, one in Chicago IL) both were at least 6feet away from the phone system, and both are in normal office environments.
In both cases Avaya started by replacing the phones, without luck, and then proceded to troubleshoot. In the end they said the transtalks arent intended to be used in office environments, and its the fluorescent lights causing the issues. Sounded like a load of crap to me personally. Any other ideas?

Well you got it from the horses mouth, tell them to take the phones back, give you your money back and you can replace them with something that works and take the boss out for dinner with the change. ------------------ One stop Voice and Data Solutions VoIP
