I set up a Merlin Legend system for a friend of mine. It's set up in Key mode. My problem is that I can not get the outcalling to work. All the examples show using a hybrid/pbx system using 9* to grab an outside line. How can I grab one of the 4 lines while the system is in key mode.

Thanks.

You would still use the 9 *, have given that person the right class of service to allow outcalling?

I checked the class of service (10) so that should be ok. Outcalling is on, But it's not calling out. Is there a setting in the legend that need to be turned on? I read on another site the following (haven't tried it yet):

.............
Can you set-up outcalling on a Merlin Legend Mail/Merlin Legend R7.0 when the system is Key. I think it has to be set-up as PBX/Hybrid, but couldn't remember. Any help would be appreciated

you can. If I remember, you have to assign the lines to the voice mail ports, turn off the ringing, then when it dials 9, it will grab a line.

Thanks ghostinzman, that was the piece I was missing.
..............

I have a 007 (6port) board split in two, 3 ports for AA(group 770) and 3 ports for VM(group 780). (Probaly not the best way to do it, but I have delayed call handling on the AA lines.)

Group 770 has group cover 30 and lines 801 802 803 804

Group 780 has group cover 30 and no lines.

Question, should I have the incoming line in group 780 also?

Thanks
Norm

You're also going to need to have the lines assigned to the last VM port, with ALS set for Intercom, Line 801, 802, etc. Check the restriction level as well, as it will automatically become outward restricted when put into an Integrated VMI hunt group.

I am pretty certain you can't use outcalling on a Merlin in key mode.

Like TTT said, make sure the lines are assigned to the last port. In Key Mode, single line phones & VM extensions can only dial an outside line if the actual lines are programmed to that extension. Turn off ringing, assign ALS to intercom, and make sure you put a 9 in the outcalling number. By default, the vm ports are restricted from outcalling, so you need to enable that as well.

Ken,
I haven't tried it yet. I have been busy with other projects, and this one currently doesn't have a high priority. I am going on vacation next week, so it's going to be a minium of 2 week before I give it a try. I will post my finding asap.
