In my home I have an Avaya Partner ACS phone system installed in my house. I am using port 7 and 8 for the voice mail computer. At this time I have the system set up so that when you call my main house number, the system will ring the phone 4 times. If no one picks up the phone, the auto attendant on the voice mail computer picks up and then asks what ext you want to transfer to. I would like to know if its possible to have the system around 9:00pm every night till 7:00am in the morning have the voice mail computer pick up instantly without ringing the indoor phones 4 times. This way at night time when someone calls, they can dial the ext and not bother the other people in the house... How can I set this up?

I am using a computer based voice mail machine from Ava Technology. They are no longer in business.

Thanks for any info,

Matthew

You can't have it happen automatically, based on the time of day/day of week as you've asked, BUT, you can put a Night Service button on Ext. 10, and have that control the VMS Hunt Delay for the Day Mode and the Night Mode. Make it 4 rings Day, and 0 rings for Night. However, you will still hear about 1/2 of a ring on the phones when the calls are sent to the voice mail.

Actually, here's what you could do instead. Run it "backwards". Put it 0 rings Day, and 4 rings night, set the phones to NO ring, and put them in the Night Service group. Then turn the Night Service button ON during the day. The phones ring, and the voice mail picks up on 4 rings. Turn Night Service OFF at night, the phones don't ring, and the voice mail picks up immediatly.
