A customer who has just acquired an AVAYA Definity PBX on board a ship, needs us to reprogram the extensions & the call features.
We require the programming manuals (which they dont have) and was hoping if anyone could help us. Also, can we program from a display phone or do we need to use a laptop? If require laptop, we would also need the programming software.
Please email or contact me as we have to do
this job on Mondday 17 Oct 05 as the ship will be sailing middle of that week. Thanks in advance for your help.

The Definity is Avayas large PBX. I hate to tell you this, but you should immediately find a subcontractor that is knowledgeable on this system. Programming a Definity is not like programming a Prostar. If you really want the manuals, all of Avaya's docs are available for download on their web site.

If you have never programmed a Definity before, good luck. It is very robust. You need ASA (Avaya Sight Administration) to program the switch. This is avaiable from any Business Partner or Avaya directly for about $30 for the CD. Or there may be a SAT termianal with the PBX depending on its age. All the manuals are avaiable on https://support.avaya.com. Happy reading. You will need the software version from your customer and a login and password to program the PBX.

I sincerely appreciate your advise. I will subcontract the job to a Avaya Business Partner. Would not want to get stuck in a mess trying to figure things out on-site. Thanks Paul144 & liquidvw for your advise.
