I inherited a Partner key system at a school. I installed a Partner mail VS R5.0 a couple months ago and the customer is saying that when they transfer calls to an extension the call gets cutoff. The mail VS answers all calls with an AA then they push a digit to get the proper dept. The call goes to that dept OK. When that call is transfered again,it is cutoff most of the time. Since they didnt transfer calls before I installed the VS, (they took messages)dont know if transfer problem was already there or not. One thing I noticed is that the processor says R1.0 but when I go into the Partner is says it is a R4.0. The VS is not compatible with the R1.0.
Any ideas out there? Thanks...

What do you mean by When that call is transfered again?

On the AA, when the caller pushes for example number 1 it goes to the school secretary, then she sometimes transfers the call to a teacher in the classroom. When the call gets to the teacher, that is when it cuts them off, usually after about 10 to 30 seconds. I thought at first that when the secretary transferred the call she was actually conferencing the call, then when the teacher got to the call after the secretary hung up,the call timed out. ???

If I read you right the call is on hold and it disconnects before the teacher gets it. hmmmm, gonna have to think about that one. If the secretary has transferred it then the VM is out of the pic.

Try setting #203 to a longer setting, it is more then likely set to 450msec which works well normally but yours may need to be set longer.

DTMF- The call is not on hold but the calling party and the teacher are talking for awhile and are then cut off. I changed #203 to 550msec but they were cutoff again this morning.
Any ideas?
Thanks..

This looks like a LEC issue, not something with your equipment unless you have power issues that would cause your system to go down.

This key system has only 4 CO lines, so these lines are used as incoming and outgoing. It seems that if it were a LEC issue there would be problems on outgoing use also.
I assume the transfer feature is part of the processor card, could there be issues with the processor?
The users seem to think the trouble is on all CO lines.

You can't take the customer's word for anything! You have to see it happen for yourself so you can do your own (hopefully educated) diagnosis or you will be running around wasting time.

If it's as you say it has NOTHING to do with the transfer or the messaging because they are LONG out of the picture.

Go there yourself, get the facts and see EXACTLY what's happening.

I went to this site and setup the scenario as I stated above. I called to the main number, pressed 3 to get to the receptionist, she transferred me to a classroom. After about 20 seconds my call was cut off. I was cutoff twice out of 8 calls. Both cutoffs were on different CO lines.
Any thoughts?
