you can also locate a BTMI 113B interface unit goes from station port 4 pair to single line defice or you can locate Model Z187A1 which was a off premise module from the 1030 Merlin, which will both work for what you want to do

Good news- I was at my dad's work today and I rescued a Merlin system from the trash! 3 BIS 10 phones, 4 BIS 5 phones, and a 410 control unit. Now I have something else to work on!

Are you going to take one of BIS 10's to the hardware?

I probably will take one there. I was working with the system tonight and did some wiring. I went from the ksu to a 66 block to a patch panel, but it didn't work. I might have miswired something, not too sure. I used the T568B color code. Was that incorrect?

Just pin for pin, so any wiring scheme will work as long as you're the same on both ends, it takes all 4 pairs, you can make it work with 3 but you won't have voice over the speaker when you dial a station.

Jeff:
Yes, the Merlin systems use 568B, but they will also work using 568A as long as it's the same on both ends of your cable run. It sounds to me like you may have 568A at one end and 568B at the other end. Just try transposing the white/orange and white/green pairs (at one end only) and see what happens.
Mike:
Jeff may have a 206. Did those support BIS phones? For some reason, I thought the only way they did was with a feature pack 1 added. It's been a long time since I messed with that system, plus I am an old geezer. They don't let me touch electrical things here in the "home".

This one is a 410 and it has a feature pack installed. The one at work is a bigger control unit, don't know the model. Thanks to all! Jeff

Jeff you probably lost it going in and out of the block as above if you put jacks 568a or b same on both ends and use sta cords to cu and set you should work
Same on one at work If you want to play with what you have put a cat tester on your wires WITH OUT POWER FROM CU and it will show reversals.
Ed merlin classics 206/410/820 bread box shaped cu all needed fp1 or 2 for bis sets or monitor speaker to work. not needed with merlin plus or 1030/3070

Could I also just use patch cords from the jack to the phone?

Yes, as long as you use straight through cords.
