We have a PARTNER Voice Messaging PC Card (R3) for our Avaya ACS. We have been experience problems when trying to retrieve our voicemail messages. The problem has manifested in two different ways: when listening to a message, all you hear is a loud "click", or you will hear the same message for each message in the mailbox. This happens for either new messages or saved messages. We know that the saved messages were o.k. to begin with, but were corrupted later.
I decided to do some experimenting to see if I could replicate the problem. I intercommed a different extension and got the voicemail. For the messages, I let it record music I was playing from my PC. For each message, I used a different song.
I began to notice problems when certain songs were too soft and were not being picked up by the speakerphone. I would get a message saying "Recording too short. Message deleted. Goodbye." If I checked the voicemail messages immediately after such an event, all the messages were fine. However, if I recorded one more voicemail after such an event, then checked the voicemail, the messages would be all messed up.
Here is a specific run of messages I tried. I left messages 1-4, each one a different song. On my next attempt, I got the "Recording too short..." I then checked the messages, and 1-4 were fine. Then I recorded messages 5-10. On the next attempt, I once again got the "Recording too short...." message. I then recorded message 11.
I then checked the messages again. New message 5 was fine. New Messages 6-10 all repeated message 5. Message 11 was fine. Old messages 1-4 were all corrupted, leaving just that loud "click" I described above.
Does anyone have an idea what the problem is and what may be done to correct it? Have others experienced similar problems with these cards? Your insight would be appreciated.

I can't say I have ever had or seen this problem.
I have had issues with passwords on boxes resetting to default before.
The only way I was able to correct that issue was to completly wipe out the programing on the V Mail and start fresh. Never had any more trouble after that.
Before you wipe it, you might try powering down the system and reseat the vm pc card.

Yep, do the reseat thing, then wipeout, however, I believe you've got a bad vm card there. Hope its under warranty.

I've seen lots of wierd problems with these cards. Just the other day a customer called to say that they couldn't leave any messages and the messaging says that the mailbox is full. There were no messages in any boxes. Most times resetting the system takes care of may problems and it did in this case. Easiest way to accomplish this is to pull the plug, wait a few seconds them plug it back in.
While it's powered down you could remove the messaging card and then reinsert it, but I have never seen that to be an issue. It couldn't hurt to give it a try though.
If this doesn't work I would give defaulting the messaging card back to original factory settings a try before I replaced it. Let us know if the above didn't help and we will tell you how to default it.
