It has been quite a long time since I have worked with the Partner line, so I’m looking for advice and suggestions on any release #’s and VM applications to use or stay away from.

My client wants a small Partner system, initially setup with six (6) CO lines and six (6) to eight (8) stations, with voice mail and AA.

They don’t anticipate any growth, but we have heard this story before.
I would propose an ACS R7.0, one 308EC, and PC mail (or would the Partner Mail VS be a better solution).

Realizing earlier ACS release will save on costs; I don’t won’t to offer something that might possibly be bug prone in earlier releases.

Looking for advice, recommendations, and don’t do’s.

Thank you,

Rich

Well, you have to understand that any Partner processor other than the ACS R6 and R7 has been discontinued and anything you get is going to be used or refurbished. Refurbished means it was used and dusted off.

Even though the R7 is new, it is not intended to replace the R6, both are current. Matter of fact I would stay away from the R7 because it is the first of a new design and buggy.

I think a cost effective solution offering new equipment would be an ACS R6 with a 400EC. That will give them 7 lines and 8 extensions.

Again I would limit my VM options to current products. I think with a small system like this (only 8 extensions) one of the two PVM cards that go into the PC card slot in the ACS would work well. The small provides 4 mailboxes and the large 16.

Are you aware that the Mail VS was replaced sometime ago with Partner Messaging. Latest version being R.7

It is in a lot of ways a clone of Merlin Messaging.

First I would find out what they want in the VM system.

The card mails are good, but not a lot of features.
1 level AA,2-port only, 4 or 16 mail boxes depending which you choose. No sub menu, can't foward messages ect.

Parnter Messaging cost more but does a lot more than the PC card mails.
