Dial 9 to get an outside line, get DT OK, dial the number, wait...wait...nothing! Try again and it works fine. All different sets, different cards, no piece of hardware that I can narrow it down to, and it is happening more often. What you guys think?

Do you know if that system is using ARS or LCR where the system provides "fake" dial tone when you dial 9? If so, you may just have a dead trunk coming into the system and it grabs that one occasionally. The next time a call is dialed, it grabs a different trunk. Just a guess, but it might be worth confirming that there is dial tone on each CO line connected to the system.

I'm not sure about ARS or LCR. I'll get a list incoming phone #s and check it out. It's fed by BKMA-2 with RA terminals that runs about 20 blocks over hill and dale-what could go wrong? Thanks, Ed!

what release merlin, do you have single line sets ?
from a single line station
release 1 , 2, & 3
#03 + line # 801 thur 880 ( dial tone =good
release 4 thru magix
#03 then put in ( XXXXXXXX ) then line number 801 thur 880 dial tone = good
you need to do this for every line that is supposed to have dial tone ,or you can just test at the terminal block with a butt set

cvrbob,

That is info you should have PMed to schooltech since it will circumvent any restriction on the phone and could lead to toll fraud.

Relabel your lines so each one is unique. (By default, each one just says "OUTSIDE"). Just make them say "LN. 801", "LN. 802", etc.

Then when you dial 9, you are getting a simulated dial tone. When you dial the rest of the number, the system will grab a line in the pool, and also display the line's label in the display. Keep dialing until you hit dead air, and look at the label before you hang up.

Put it in maintaince busy until it gets repaired, so it is out of the pool temporarily. Don't forget to unbusy it.

Has the T-1 been recently downgraded? If so, then you would have to go into programming and take out the channels that no longer are there. I have had this happen many times in the past where a customer believes they don't want 18 channels of voice any more, so they go down to 12. The CO goes ahead and removes the channels, but your switch is still programmed with them in there, so you will hit "dead air" on certain calls. Of course the customer nevers calls you and tells you that there has been a change in the T-1, they don't think it will affect anything.
