Okay,
I am back at work today and the light is still green on my phone and red on all the other phones in the office. I have unplugged it from the wall and plugged in back in several times but the light stays illuminated. I still
can't get it to respond to pushing on hold and still no dialtone. I have the phone number of the vendor that sold us the system years ago so I will give them a call and see what they can do.

Hal, the phone when plugged into other stations still illuminates the light however it is red not green since my desk is where it orginated. I only have today to solve the problem since my boss comes back tomorrow.

Hey guess what.....I called the vendor and he suggested we find the power cord to the system and trace it to the outlet and unplug it. I am sure this is what you guys were suggesting and I was just unplugging the phone port. So at this point the problem is solved for the time being and as always I thank all of you for such quick responses.
