GTO, are you saying that the light stays green on the same phone, nomatter where it's plugged in? If that is the case, then like Hal said, the phone is bad.

If you go to the repair category on this site, you can find a repair facility to fix it for you but you will be without the phone for a few days. Priority One (Paul144) does this stuff, so you should try to contact him.

I took my phone that has the green light on it and plugged it in at another site where the light is red. It comes on red at that site and if I bring another phone to my extension where the green light originated and plug it in it stays green. I have tried to put it on hold and hang it back up but it does not respond to any buttons pushed.
Hope this makes sense

Fellas, I am leaving soon for the day but will check back with you tomorrow for your insight. I appreciate all of your help so far and hopefully this will be as easy to fix as the message light question I had you solve before.
thanks again

I meant, put it on hold at your desk. Walk to another extension. Pick it up there. Hang it up.
If you swapped phones and the trouble stayed with the port, I would rule out the phone, unless of course they both have shot hookswitches, which is possible (Hal, you are soooo right). Has anyone been playing with your wiring, phone closet, or jacks lately?
You might need to get a tech out to get into more advanced trouble shooting.

GTO:

Based upon your last post, I would tend to lean toward a bad port on the system. All is not lost, but you will probably have to change your extension number if you have any spare ports available. In order to assist, Hal will need to know what model of Partner system you have. When you check back with us, try to see if you can find out from the control unit.

If you can send us a picture of the system's control unit using Photobucket.com, it will help us speed up the resolution process.

Well, if it only affects line 3 on that one extension (assuming that all three lines are assigned to that extension) we can rule out wiring problems, other T/R devices connected to that extension and the hookswitch. Any of these would do the same thing to the other two lines as well.

Since he says the phone works fine plugged into another extension and other phones will not work plugged into his extension we are going to have to believe this is a problem with that particular port, though I have never seen this before.

The easiest way around this is simply to find yourself another port on the system if there is one. Your extension number will change which may require some programming since it may not be programmed as the old one was. If you have voice messaging you may have to set up a new maillbox and possibly redo the AA menu promp.

If you have no spare ports then it gets much more complicated. You want to be sure of what is causing the problem since now you are going to have to spend some money. I would recommend that you have a dealer send a tech out to diagnose your problem and take care of it. It's not a simple problem that can be handled without being on site.

Try cycling the power off and on, see if the problem clears.

Yup, for sure. I always mention that first, don't know why I didn't here.

Hal, it's funny that you said that because I thought the same exact thing. I guess we just take that part for granted.
