Teacher is getting several crank calls a day from what we think is an extension in the school. I tried using an exec set with the LED screen but it wouldn't draw DT much less show who was calling. It's a Merlin Legend system. Got any ideas?

OK, so if the suspected caller is behind the switch I assume that he/she is calling the teacher on their land line or cell phone? If so, simply hook up a printer to the SMDR port and you can get a log of what extension called what number and when. You'll need the 355AF RS232/RJ45 connector. Then there is caller ID, too.

We are pretty sure it is from an ext on campus. Would the SMDR document that?

The legend sends out date/time/number called /
elapsed time and ext making call /trunk #.

This is as a dump without call accounting.

you also need a serial printer.

this will printer every call out of legend as a laundry list.

I needed a 355am on the one i just did with an oki
320 printer.

But if the call is coming from one extension to another within the same switch, SMDR won't show anything.

Well then the calling extension should be displayed on the receiving end. If it isn't a display phone, I'd put on on that extension for the purpose of catching the perp.

Do I need to move that jumper to a digital card to use a display phone and do I need to reconfigure the extension number?

What type of station is it now? Single Line? Display phones will be MLX or TDL, and yes will need to come from the correct type of card.

Yeah, it's a single line set with no LED. I might try moving the the patch cord from the analog card to the digital one and see if it works.
