Vodavi?? Toshiba??

A telephone system is the window to a customer's business. I read these postings and cannot understand why these systems are still being tossed around.

What are you talking about? We have Vodavi systems that have been working for 15+ years. Toshiba? I see a lot of old Toshiba equipment as well.

The Shop 'n Save grocery chain in St. Louis and western Illinois still has the analog Vodavi Starplus systems in their stores....they're still going, no problem. Have one at home too...very sturdy and reliable system.

Look around next time you go out to stores or restaurants...plenty of Toshiba systems all over.

While this is a very old post, I must add that Vodavi is 95% of what we sell and we have been doing it for 16 years. This quarter alone, we will have cut over 1,800 stations by years' end. Some health care, some defense contractors and many regular old businesses.

Perhaps the name is strange (it's an acronym for VOice, DAta, VIdeo), but their stuff is rock-solid. If it's broken, then somebody did something wrong. Our entire business is riding on it and has been for many years. Don't knock the lesser-known brand names.

It's like Lexus, Saturn or Scion cars when they hit the market. Nobody knew them. Now, they are some of the most popular cars on the road. Hmmmm.

Just to put my 2 cents worth in here...

I have worked with Toshiba, Mitel and Inter-Tel. By far, the Toshiba is sturdier and more relaible. In fact, I have one customer who has a Strata XX, which is ancient, but he won't upgrade or replace it because the thing and phones don't break!!!! In my office we are constantly sending techs out to service brand new Inter-Tel's because the VM has crashed or phones don't work, but with Toshiba, most of the calls are for moves, adds or changes not service.

To end my soap box..Toshiba is a very good and reliable system. It can play with the big boys (VoIP, networking etc.)and can provide a cost affective alternative.

nortel is so easy you dont need tech support.

Nortel makes good stuff too, very reliable, very expandable, and the sets themselves are fairly sturdy. Very easy to learn too.

That said, Nortel doesn't seem (IMHO) to be as flexible as some other brands.

how many phone do you have?

Tadiran can easilly network way above that size and IMHO, not that I am biased :dance: , will simply blow both away in price, capability, longevity(hands down) and redundancy....and do it well.
