Hi everyone. I am upgrading (I think ) my voice mail from partner mail R3.0 to partner messaging R7.0. I have noticed that the audio quality is quite poor on the 7.0 as compared to the 3.0. Has anyone else experienced this as well? Also is there any settings that I can adjust to make it better?

I've not personally noticed any problems with Partner Messaging, but I've also not done a head to head comparison with a 3.0 (VS? Partner Mail?)
There are options during playback to raise and lower the volume, mostly used for checking message remotely. Don't know if fiddling with them would make it better for you or not.

I don't know how to describe it. It sounds like the audio stream is compressed or something. There is a bit of distortion where on the 3.0 system it's crystal clear. It seems like if you pay a bunch of money for the higher end system it would actually sound BETTER... go figure. -Rich

Well yeah it certainly is compressed to hell in both systems. I haven't noticed any difference either and I'm not sure the compression method is any different between the systems. Could be poor audio quality coming in given cell phones and VOIP today. Could also be that you have a problem with the messaging system (which I doubt).

-Hal The audio that I am talking about is the automated attendant menus and stuff which were recorded from the same handset that they were on the R3.0 system. I notice that it also takes longer for the audio to play once the system has answered. For example, you hear the click when the line is opened by the system and then there is about a 1.5-2.0 second delay before you hear the audio from the AA.

Sounds to me like the person who recorded the menu picked up the handset too late then paused before speaking. The system recognized the click of the handset being lifted as the begining of the recording. Try recording it again, this time listen to the prompts through the handset so you can be ready. Having your script written out makes it much easier. Keep recording it over and over till you have it down. After recording press 23 to hear what you have, then 21 to re-record when you dont like it.

We are a technology company and support computer networks. I was the one recording the menu. It wasn't on speakerphone at all. I did it through the handset and spoke immediately after the beep. I'm thinking there may be something wrong with it. All I know is that my release 3 system is louder in audio and is definately more clear. What I have is usable and I would probably live with it for the added features of R7.0. It just doesn't seem like Avaya to put out a product with a flaw like this.

Where did you get it? Was it from an Avaya dealer? They should stand behind it, have them swap it out for a new one.
