Our setup is:
Site A: PRI for phone lines. T1 for Point to Point to Site B: Running Merlin Legend R7 / 007MLM Voice Mail
Site B: T1 Point to Point to Site A Running Merlin Legend R7
Everything seems to work ok except when a call comes into Site A that needs to be sent to Site B via the Auto Attendant, the caller hears only silence and no ringing. After recipient on Site B answers the phone, there is 3 or more seconds of silence before the parties can hear each other.
Question 1: Is there any way to generate a ring on the calls going to Site B?
Question 2: Is there any way to shorten the delay when a caller picksup on Site B so the parties can hear each other faster?
Also, DID numbers that go over to Site B never get answered by Voicemail. Any ideas on that?
Thanks for any responses.

Start by downloading the Network Reference Manual here: https://support.avaya.com/edoc/docs/legend/leg61nr1.pdf Did you program this originally, or have you inherited it? Is the point to point programmed as a PRI? I would start by checking under Options, Transfer, Audible to see if you are supplying ringback to your callers. Check the Transfer Restrictions, FRLs, TIE Trunk Restriction, and Loop Start Disconnect settings, refering to the Network Reference. It also includes a great troubleshooting section.

Thanks for the reference manual. Great information there!
The ringback is now working. I just need to figure out the DID voicemail issue.

I am still unable to get the Direct Dial numbers in Site B to go to Voice mail.
Anything I can try? The same extensions transfered from the AA do go to voicemail.

Another piece to the puzzle (I think)
If I call in on a Direct Number, the phone will actually ring for 4 rings, after that it stops. To the outside caller, the call will ring forever.

your coverage path on Switch B is incorrect. The networking manual goes into great detail about setting up the proper coverage for mailboxes. You do have 6.1 software or better on both systems, right? You have verified this, correct? Also, do you have your point to point setup as PRI? You will need this in order to use the centralized voice mail feature. Setting up as TIE trunks won't work.

The point to point is setup as a T1. Calls transfered from the AA to Site B will go to voice mail. Only the direct dialed numbers on Site B will not.
Both sites run Version 7

I think you missed Z-man's comment - the point to point is a T1, but it MUST be configured as PRI.
