Partner Messaging R1.0. 5 slot carrier. R6 ACS. 2 3X8 cards. VMS in slot 4. Is it possible to set up an auto attendant selector code to transfer an incoming call to a preprogrammed outside telephone number and be able to talk over it? This is a doctor's office who wants full time auto attendant 24/7 yet needs to be able to transfer callers out to an emergency hotline if required during off hours without having them hang up and redial it themselves.

The ACS R6 can do remote call forwarding. Calls transferred to an extension are then forwarded to the outside number. Keep in mind that voice quality can suffer because two lines are simply bridged. Also, the system is going to need one idle line in addition to the line the call came in on.

See the ACS R6 documentation for how to set up RCF for an extension.

Thanks, Hal. It never even occurred to me that I could do it this way. It was like a light suddenly went off in my head. So basically I'll just enable remote call forwarding to an unused extension, assign an auto attendant selector code to that extension and set up a personal speed dial code for that emergency outside line and leave the extension permanently forwarded. Voila! Thanks again, I really appreciate your help....Fred...ex Verizon...there is life after Bell.

Probably better to use an actual extension since you will have to program a forward button. Any time the system gets powered down the forwarding will get turned off, so it's a good idea to be able to check it.
