What I am trying to do is, using a selector code to go to a mbx to play a message only and not take a message on an Partner R7 with a PC Card R3 VM. Am I correct in reading the manual for the Partner pc card vm that you can set up an individual mail box to just play a message(for directions to site). If so can I assign that mbx to an unused extension port, plug in a phone, press DND and unplug the phone. This should work, right? Any info will be appreciated.

Well you don't need to do the pluging the phone up and press DND thing. Just adjust #321 for that ext.
And you can also go into that mail box and set it to answer only mode instead of record.

Yes. See Answer Only Mode. You could create a "guest" mailbox rather than tying up a real extension and change the VMS Cover Rings for that extension to 1.
