Here's another one...
Automatic Line Selection was used so when the person at extension #16 picks up the phone, his line is automatically selected. However, when a caller calls his phone number directly and he picks up the phone to answer, it defaults to another extension and not his extension (#16).
Any Suggestions???
(Using Partner Mail VS v.5, with Lucent 18D phones)
Thanks...

Does the phone ring on the line and ONLY that line?

Hal,
No, our phone system is setup so that every call rings on all phone - but you can tell which phone number is being called by the phone lights. We are using Lucent Partner 18D phones. You can answer any ringing line from any phone, you just select that line when the phone rings. Is this what you are asking?
Thanks...

I think you answered your own question. You are going to have to press the line button of the ringing line before you pick it up unless you only have one line ring on each phone.
Automatic Line Selection only determines the sequence lines will be selected in when the extension is idle- when you make a call. If more than one line is ringing on an extension, picking up the handset will pick up any one of the ringing lines. Not sure if there is any order to it but it cannot be changed.
If you want only a particular line to be picked up only allow that line to ring.

phat.mike,
The phone system you have is a really good and solid system and can do a lot for you.
In my opinion you would get more out of the system if you would contact a local Avaya Business Partner in your area and have them come out and do an evaluation/site survey.
They could help you customize it to fit your needs and save you a lot of time and headache.
You mentioned you have a Partner Mail VS R.5. That mail alone if it is a 4-port could do a lot for you. I assume you have a Partner ACS processor which again could be flashed to a R.6 and give you even more options for handleing calls. But a good one on one consultation would be worth every penny you would spend.
