Hello all,

I have an AT&T merlin phone system. We have 15 outside lines via a T1. The office phones are MLX-16DP.

The last phone number in our 15 number pool has been removed from our calling pool and is dedicated to one of our employees. When this employee receives outside calls to this number, caller ID does not work. This is because the card that the line is plugged into is not a caller ID card.

We do have a caller ID card in the system that the first 8 lines are plugged into; its a 800 GS-LSID card.

My question is, how difficult is it to transplant the employees line onto the caller id card?

Thanks,
Scallica

Physically swap the two CO lines, put the private line on the 800 GS-LSID card, put the one originally on that card where the private line was.

Now reprogram the system to reflect the change. Do you know anything about Legend programming?

Thanks for the reply. We know how to do some basic administrative tasks from the main phone in the boss' office. However, none of us have performed any advanced programming tasks.

What are the steps to reprogram the system?

Step 1

Pay a qualified installer /programmer to make your programming changes.

The programming of a Legend system can become quite involved.

It is not the intent of this board to provide
deep level programming @ an end user level.

We did consult with a phone system maintenance company but the price was unacceptable.

I don't know what you consider unacceptable or what you were quoted- and don't tell us here please. This is definitely something that is beyond the end user level and the scope of this forum. You are going to have to get a tech in to do this for you if you want it done. There certainly should be other dealers in your area, get some other quotes. Where on LI are you? Possibly Ken would be able to help you.

Instead of programming the system, we have decided to remove the analog line from the phone system and connect it directly to the users phone. The number is already removed from our hunt group, so we do not expect any service interuptions. The user is a tenant, not a member of our company, therefore does not need the phone system features.

Wished you would have said that in the beginning. We have several customers with that same situation. They rent space to a tenant, tenant only has one line. We give tenant a single line phone and connect it directly to their one line. I can't see giveng them a more costly system phone or using system resources that they don't need.
