Hi,

We have an Intuity and I have connected a serial cable from the remote management card to a machine that I can terminal into. When I run hyperterminal it shows connected but gives me no login information. Do I have to set anything special in the system to allow me to login using the serial port?

Thanks
Joe

Just plug in a monitor and a keyboard. That's it. If the keyboard is disconnected and the Intuity is running it will probably not reconize the keyboard. You will need to reboot it.

If the Intuity is on the LAN you can also telnet into it via ASA.

I have a monitor and keyboard on it but it is in another state but part of the same domain. Unfortunately it does not have a network card in it so ASA is not an option. The switch had a c-lan card in it so I'm good with ASA there...I need to be able to remote connect to this machine and manage it. I have a serial cable going from the Intuity remote management card to the serial port of a machine on the network. I can terminal into that computer and open up a hyperterminal session but I need to know how to configure the Intuity to accept a hyperterminal session on that management card.

You could use dial up to access it via ASA.

I would need a spare phone line for that...trying to do this without additional cost.

Use an analog line off of the PBX and an unused DID. Cost = $0.
