One of our offices has a Legend R7 and wants to make coverage changes. An extension appears on an MLX-10 and on an assistants MLX-28 as an SA button with delayed ring. They would like the call to forward to the operator if not answered at either phone in X number of rings. The operator is also using an MLX-28. We're being told it can't be done. If it matters, they have voice mail but it's on active after hours.
Any thoughts??

under extensions use can delay call forward ,set it for how many rings to delay before call forwarding to the operator or you can use delay primary coverage *40 + extension for coverage set to delay ring at the operator if she has the button space

Delay call forward is the ticket. You cannot put a *40 cover button on the operator console (if it is truely defined as an operator).
If the extension doesn't have voicemail, you can put it in cover 30 anyway. After x number of rings, the caller will hear "Please wait" before being transferred to the operator.
The last alternative is to built a DGC with the operator as a member. Associate 771 (or whatever it is) with group 1, and then assign the extension in that group.
