Case in point

The 007MLM is 4 port. My legend has all MLX 408 cards (3) in 1 carrier. If memory serves the 007MLM has 2 TTRs and the 408s don't have any between the 3 of them.

The trouble is random calls are picked up stating that they will transfer you the the operator (ext 10).

Do I need another card in my left-over slot to provide additional TTRs? If so, what card is recommended?

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem when port connected to the VM was not assigned as a member of Calling Group 770. If it is not in the Group VM would transfer call to the Operator

According to page 817 (Adobe Acrobat page 845) of the Merlin MAGIX Integrated System Feature Reference, two TTRs should be fine if your volume is 110 calls per hour or less.

Well, Dagwood's theory is great, but in practice here's the deal.

If more than 2 calls are delivered to the MLM-007 at the same time, the 3rd call will be sent to the operator 'cause the MLM-007 Didn't get any mode codes, thus it doesn't know what to do with it.

Considering you said this is a LEGEND, if you are not planning on upgrading to a MAGIX, a
400 GS/LS-TTR would be the hardware to install.

It has 4 TTr's, and should resolve your issues.

Thanks merlinman. There's nothing like experience!

BTW, I thought that's why activating "Rotary Enable" became a practice; that something other than a DTMF mode code could be used to correctly pass the call to the 007MLM when all TTRs were exausted.

The 007 uses DTMF, while Merlin Messaging uses pulse.

Funny thing, When Bell Labs created the MERLIN MESSAGING, they were afraid sales people would not sell any TTR capable modules.

Meanwhile, in another part of the labs, other engineers were figuring out how to put TTR's on the TDL modules.

So it became a win win situation for all parties concerned.

(Except for the Product Managers trying to keep the costs down)

I added the 400 GS/LS TTR trunk module and did a board renumber. Although the problem doesn't happen as often, there are still calls that are not being picked up by the AA greeting but by the statement transferring to the operator.

I watched my ports on the 007 MLM as I made calls, maintenance busying 1 port at a time to see if I could identify the failure in 1 port or the other. The failure wasn't specific to a port.
Would that mean I have a bad touchtone receiver in the 007 MLM?

You added 4 more DTMFs. If you have every fifth or sixth call fails that means you have bad receiver.

As vad60 posted, you very may well have a BAD TTR in one of your modules.

I trust you have a T&R Module of some type for you to be able to test your touch tone recievers.

I am certain you will find one bad boy in the bunch.
