Hello all! I'm programming a merlin magix R2 for Remote Call Forwarding and have run into a problem. I would like callers that are answered by the AA to choose from the menu option to be forwarded to a remote office, which is an outside line. I realize this is a trunk to trunk transfer and could have possible toll-fraud abuse. But I would like to set it up in the most secure way possible.

I have setup a phantom extension 240, added the remote office phone number to an allow list, added 240 to this allow list. Enabled trunk to trunk transfer for 240, and verified that 240 is using toll-restrict. I enabled RCF on the extension to dial ARS 9, then the remote office phone number. All the FRL settings are at default.

Testing from an inside line works great. Calling in from an outside line to a random extension, say 220, answering the call at 220 and then transferring the call to 240 also works. But calling in from an outside line and dialing 240 does not work. The call is routed to the operator station, where the call rings forever and is never answered.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help.

First off, is it considered forwarding from the voicemail ports if I have a menu option set to transfer the call to 240? I have given some messaging ports FRL of 3 and set them to Trunk-Trunk Transfer and Toll-Restrict. The RCF number is a local number, so I should be much safer by leaving the messaging ports on Toll-Restrict right? Do I need to set all the messaging ports the same for it to work? I have 8 ports.

So far it is not forwarding when I call in to the AA. The call goes to the attendant station.

1. The voicemail ports have "responsibility" for the call transfer, so the T-2-T transfer setting and appropriate FRL levels are key.

2. You want to set all voice ports the same way, since we don't know which one will get that fateful call.

3. The toll-restrict setting is definitely safer.

Do the voicemail ports need to be in the remote forwarding group?

Also where do I check the transfer restrictions in Merlin Messaging?
