my company just bought an old AT&T Partner system. and I am the one that get to program it. it has two 206E's one is an R4.1 and the other is a R3.1 the processor is a R3.1, then there is a 400E R3.1 and a Partner Mail VS R5.0. I have looked through all of the documentation that I have to try and find out; what is the minimum programming that is needed to access the voice mail from one of the phones. I have the voice mail ports all set to group 7 (it is a 4 port voice mail card) I show that the ports are 44,45,46,and 47. I have done the other steps to try and get to programming the voice mail, and when I try intercom 777, I get a busy signal. then I am not able to go any further. also, is there a battery inside one of the cards that can be replace so that I dont have to start from scratch every time I unplug it?

try group 7 with 32,33,34,35 if vmail in last slot and just 1 carrier. Main processor has hard wired battery,I would use battery backup if not planning on replacement.--------John

Make that 30-31-32-33
In 505 grp 7 go thru all other ext 10-33 and make sure only 30-33 are assigned.
Dial icm 777 it should ans also dial 30-31-32-33 it should ans.

No, how about 24, 25, 26 and 27.
From left to right in the carrier- 206, 206, processor, mail VS, 400. If that's not how they are change them!
Now, I'm ASSUMING that because of those 206's and you asked about a battery you have either a Partner Plus or a Partner II processor, correct? If it's an ACS your VM ports will be different than what I said.

Why not just go down the row and dial intercom and the ext number and see what your VM ports are for sure?

It is but not if you put it after the messaging. Some older systems (maybe this one) had a problem if you didn't so I got in the habit of always doing it that way. Makes things simpler anyway.

Hey guys, thank you for the help so far. I changed the slot the voice mail card was in and used hbiss's setting, and I am able to dial the voice mail now. I am sure I will have more questions going forward.
Jacktel, are you saying that I have to change the processor card out just to get a new battery? or can I get a battery and replace it myself? we are planning on putting the phone system on a UPS, it would just be nice to program it herein the office, then install it in the phone closet. it is a partner II btw.

the battery is not end user replaceable at this point why not establish a relationship with a local vendor they can replace the battery and "tweak" the system programming and correct any installation errors
ups only goes so far the on board battery will hold the programming for a couple of weeks
it would also be beneficial to you to have someone you can call when you have failures or get stuck with programming issues
