Has anyone ever heard of an ACS R6 (in a 5 slot with 2 206 cards along with the processor) with PCMCIA Large VM leaving ghost messages of just static and nothing showing up on Caller ID for the call? I have a customer where we just put in the above mentioned system a little over a year ago and they say that they are getting like 10 to 15 messages per night at all hours and nothing at all shows up on the call log or on the Caller ID unit in front of the system. It is in 2 mailboxes only and happens randomly where some nights are perfectly normal and others are bombarded with "ghost messages" of nothing but a loud static hiss sounding noise. I have deleted the two mailboxes in question and re-made them hoping to get rid of the problem but was wondering if anyone in here with all this accumulated experience has ever encountered such a situation? Any suggestions and or comments are appreciated except for anything concerning the performing of an exorcism that is...... Thank you.

I don't have an answer for you. However, I wanted to commend you for having a great sense of humor.
I still remember MY grandfather's last words. He said, "Tim....ughhhhh". And that was it.

If your VM has a 0 ring at night you are not going to see any calls log or Caller ID because Caller ID comes between 1st and 2nd rings only and system cann't recorde it. Static in the MBs will probably pointed to bad PCMCIA.

Vad 60 may be on the right track with this one set night answer to 2 rings and check call id log ( set to log all calls). Then take a look around and see if the customer has any equipment pluged into one of the phone ports. The problem could be internal ie. modem, fax, alarm, credit card machine, any device that may have the ability to call out, it may be dialing on the intercom and going into vm.

Sorry took so long to reply, was out of town. Anyhow, the system doesn't really have a night mode, it is set to 4 rings standard because they keep an abnormal schedule there, so the caller ID should have time to get the call. The type of phones are standard euro style 18 btn display phones and one at the receptionist desk is the 34 btn euro style. As far as anything on the system besides actual keysets there "shouldn't" be but I am going to check that out in person because you never know how inviting any phone jack looks when someone wants to move an outbound fax or something. Thanks for the info, I am going to check into some more stuff. Might put in a loaner PCMCIA card and see if it clears things up. Thanks again.

None of the older phones. Have put in a new PCMCIA card to see if that is the culprit, waiting on the customer to let us know.
