This is the Messaging 2000 which is an Octel. I have been through the 289 page manual and found v-trees and admins but what I need is very simple.
How do I change the message on the auto-attendant?

Take a look at the section called "Setting Up System Greetings" in the https://support.avaya.com/edoc/docs/octel/oc100sm2.pdf manual. That chapter starts on page 5-3 (Adobe Acrobat page 83/289). There's a casual reference here , but I don't think it's explained effectively.

I did look at that, but I'm trying to understand what boxes the greetings actually reside in. For example, I have a note on the documentation that box 210 is the night greeting. If I change the password at the console (since nobody knew what they were) and go into that box, I'm getting a message to change password and setup my greeting - as if I was a new user setting up my mailbox. I didn't want to go further and risk screwing up the mailbox.
I have 2 more boxes that should be auto attendant greetings. Box 718 and 999. Same thing.
This manual is not very clear and this product seems overly complicated to administer. Or.... maybe I'm just too dumb.
