Has anyone encountered any strange problems with Partner MLS phones connected to the Merlin Legend? I have some mls phones that will not work at some locations, but when you plug another mls phone into the same jacks, it works fine. Yet, I can connect the same phone that wasn't working into another jack and it works. When I go into maintenance - port and check status of a non-working phone, it displays unequipped. It's as if it sees some phones and then not see others. In another instance, I have an 18 button nondisplay phone working at a location but I connect an 18d, it doesn't work. Has anyone else run into this?

Does the same bad phone/port combination failure occur when you plug the set directly into the port at the Control Unit? If so I would try a reboot first. If it fails again, I would say it's a bad ETR Module.

If the set works while plugged directly into the ETR module, it just may be that the station's cable run is a bit too long. A Legend/Magix 016 ETR port will (reportedly) support a set up to 1000 feet away, provided that you use 24AWG cable.
Allowable tolerances of the MLS phone's electronics might explain why some sets work on these longer runs while others don't. Also inspect the line cord and the interface on the phone itself. Darkened copper means increased impedence across those contacts; the deciding factor on a long run.

I am reaching way back in my memory but weren't the ETR ports supposed to be for Euro sets and the MLS sets were not supported??

I think that MLS and ETR phones look the same to the system.

Thanks guys for the responses. I went back out today and plugged directly into the ports. It seems that I do have some bad ports. What throws me off is that when I connected phones at the jacks, one phone would work while another one wouldn't. That's why I initially eliminated the ports being the problem. All stations are well within 1000 feet. I'll do a reboot and if that doesn't work, I'll order replacements. Thanks again.
