to echo Hals suggestion you would be best served by establishing a relationship with a local service company
you could replace the VM and find there are other issues .

Yes. The Mail VS is toast, it does happen. This time around have an Avaya Business Partner install a Partner Messaging R7 (the latest messaging system from Avaya) which comes with a three year warranty. You will only get that warranty from an Avaya BP.
