We have a Merlin Magix that has been running on the same Lucent uninterruptible power supply since its install back in January 2000. It still seems to be working - I can unplug from the wall and the phone system stays up. It was suggested to me that it might be time to replace the battery anyways. The model number is PRC3000a. I don't have any information on replacement batteries for this. I'm guessing this is just a relabeled APC UPS? The Magix is not reporting any errors, but we are seeing dropped calls. Could a weak UPS be causing this?

I may be Eaton Powerware if it says Lucent. A weak UPS probaly would not cause this.

Since hitechcomm didn't give you any suggestions and or help........
The batteries might be hard to find in the event that you have to replace them. And once you find them it may be cheaper to purchase a new UPS. Look into APC or Minuteman. No, the UPS has nothing to do with your dropped calls. What type of lines are connected to the system?

Lucent did make their own UPS's up until some point. That number doesn't ring a bell though. You will have to open the thing up and see what gel-cells it uses and how many. I think you are going to find that it is going to be less money to replace the whole UPS with a new one than to replace the batteries.

We have a T1 coming straight in to the T1 card in the Magix. Our provider (Cox - fiber) saw all kinds of errors on our side a couple of weeks ago and we were seeing dropped calls, so we replaced the T1 card. The errors went away and everything was fine for about a week. Now Cox isn't seeing any errors, but we are once again experiencing dropped calls. Yesterday, one customer got dropped twice within a couple of minutes, but stayed connected on their third call in. A couple other calls got dropped as well.

I think you need to start another topic for your dropped call problem. I think we have pretty much covered your battery and UPS question.
